Online Dating: Does it really work?

I have no idea why for some people it does work but in my experience, it doesn't. I wouldn't say that I’m an expert in dating, because I’m not—especially on online.

That is why, I have signed in into different online dating sites just to know and understand if online relationship does work.

I've met some good people that I can now call online friends but not exactly the kind of people that you can talk with in person. Sure, there are those who are sweet, kind, thoughtful, very understanding, matured and friendly, but you can never tell if they are the same person base only on their profiles. Particularly if the person you’re chatting with is a hundred or a thousand miles away from you.

Just like friends, they also come and go. People I chat online are more aggressive, straightforward, eccentric and sometimes very annoying. I can also be annoying sometimes but online people can be very irritating if you say the wrong words during a chat or if there's a misunderstanding between two different cultures.

One thing that I also noticed is that most people tend to become a different person online. The nerds/geeks become super cool. The insane becomes sane. The control freaks become spontaneous. The insensitive becomes sensitive. The forgetful becomes thoughtful. The weak becomes strong and so on. You will never know who you’re chatting with. You can't trust anyone. 

I’m not saying that joining online dating is bad because it’s not. You just have to know the rules, the dos and don’ts in order to avoid minor problems like accidentally having a relationship to a serial killer online and a lot more.

Building trust and relationship online is a difficult job. You need to have the time, dedication and determination in order to prolong the friendship or relationship. 

Anyhow, to those people who found their soul mates and even got married because of online dating, all I can say is—amazing! I hope that maybe someday, I'll be able to feel the same bliss that other online partners experienced.
